Symposium 2020: Artificial Intelligence in Clinical Medical Imaging

We are pleased to announce our Artificial Intelligence Symposium 2020 will take place on 3rd September 2020 and is open to the public. Please visit the event page for more information about registration and an overview of the program.

Artificial Intelligence in Medical Imaging

What to expect from this program?

Objectives
The main objectives of the Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS) in Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Medical Imaging is to equip Medical Doctors (MDs) with the necessary skills to take a leading role in the AI-driven transformation of medicine. The course program was developed for medical professionals and provides them with the necessary knowledge and skills to translate medical problems to data science problems. By working on an AI project of their own, the participants will know the fundamental concepts of Artificial Intelligence and can thus judge the feasibility and adequacy of proposed AI solutions.

Participants
The program addresses MDs that are active in areas where image and video analysis are integral parts or that are interested in the application of artificial intelligence in medical imaging and diagnosis.

Compatibility between Studies and Professional Occupation
All study programs are conceptualized as extra-occupational programs that can be reconciled with the usual professional work. The study program includes a blended learning concept which means that remote e-learning will be complemented by concept lectures, peer learning and interactive discussions with experts.
Having only a limited number of in-class courses allows for large flexibility while at the same time permitting participants to profit from the experts’ expertise.

Program Plan

The study program is highly modular and uses a blended learning approach which means that remote e-learning will be complemented by concept lectures, peer learning and interactive discussions with experts. The program is composed of the following modules:

  • Symposium: Artificial Intelligence in Medical Imaging (public)
  • M1 – Artificial Intelligence Project
  • M2 – Prerequisites for Statistics and Programming (e-learning)
  • M3 – Fundamentals in Artificial Intelligence
  • M4 – Applied Artificial Intelligence in Medical Imaging
  • M5 – Applications of Artificial Intelligence
  • M6 – Legal and Ethical Challenges

As a neuroradiologist and researcher, I consider Deep Learning an essential future technology. The CAS program focuses on both the basics of AI as well as several hands-on exercises, including an individual thesis project, under the guidance of renowned researchers in the field. It was therefore very appealing to me. The introduction to fast AI and different application examples was something I enjoyed in particular. I can wholeheartedly recommend this course to anybody interested in AI.
